This poem is about showing one thing, but the reality being completely different.
‘Ethics’ is about taking a breather every now and again and consider whether what you are doing is ethically correct and follows the moral high ground that you expect yourself to live up to.
‘Choices’ is about self-reflection, realizing what is good and bad for you. Getting to know yourself better is essential to getting better.
If someone you adore keeps leaving you small breadcrumbs, and you follow blindly it can get toxic. That’s what ‘Breadcrumb’ is about. Not realizing the bad situation and simply following suit.
‘Distance II’, the second of a two-part series, is about the distance between two people in a relationship. Where they each feel they are and where they each feel the relationship is going.
‘Distance I’, the first of a two-part series, is comparing physical distance with emotional distance.
When you’re weak, you can only get stronger. The poem ‘Strong’ is about thoughts wandering off back and forth thinking if one should get in touch with an old flame. Would doing so be something both of you actually want or is it just a confidence boost? Will you regret it?
‘Weak’ is about being stuck, not having moved on, and feeling weak because of it. You’re drawn to contact your old flame, but as soon as you do, the split second after you press send, you’re filled with regret. This ping-pong goes back and forth a few times until enough time has passed and you become strong.
This is the last part of a three-part poem series called ‘Change’. It’s post-breakup where you’re thinking back and no longer worrying if you made the right choice. You’re finally fine and have accepted that the two of you weren’t a match. It’s time for change.
